Rock Climbing & Rappelling Event

Grand Canyon Council is holding a rock climbing and rappelling event on Sat, Feb 11 at Coon Bluff campground in northeast Mesa (about 5 mins north of Power Road and 202).  No experience is needed and all climbing gear will be provided. 

There are three signup times for 10-12 participants:

  • Morning (10a-12p)

  • Noon (12-2p)

  • Afternoon (2-4p)

Cost is $15 to cover the rental of the climbing gear (ropes, harnesses, helmets, etc).  Coon Bluff is in the Tonto National Forest and requires a Tonto Day Pass  ($8) or annual Tonto Discovery Pass for the fee use area.

Slots will fill up fast to register early.

Siblings in a similar age as Webelos or Scouts can participate.

Per the Guide to Safe Scouting (https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/gss/), Webelos youth (4th and 5th graders) can rappel, but not climb.

No one younger than Webelos can climb or rappel. However, there is hiking and the Salt River meanders nearby which they can explore.
